Our Crossfit® and Hyrox Team

  • Archie Reid

Archie is a Director of SALT and leads our community as Head Coach. Archie has been passionate about health and fitness since his very first gym membership at the age of 12. Having made every mistake in his own journey, he is dedicated to helping others through theirs, regardless of their starting point or goals. Archie has extensive experience coaching a wide range of people, from those just finding their feet in the gym to those with competition and performance goals. He brings a wealth of competitive success to his coaching, including setting three Scottish weightlifting records, qualifying for international competitions, and being a top 3 Scottish male CrossFitter for three years in a row. With qualifications including CrossFit Level 2, Gymnastics Coach Level 1, and PT/Group Instructor Level 2, Archie is passionate about helping you achieve your goals.

  • Al Mohammed

As a CrossFit Level 2 coach and our Gym Manager, Al brings five years of hands-on gym experience to SALT. He works with a broad range of individuals, ranging from those in early motherhood, to senior members of our community. Al is passionate about helping people train with intention and truly enjoy the process, tailoring every session to improve strength, mobility, and overall performance based on where you are in your fitness journey. His well-rounded and holistic approach looks beyond the workout, incorporating sleep, food, mindset, and recovery as vital parts of the equation. In addition to his coaching and management role, Al is also one of SALT’s Directors, helping shape the strategic direction of the gym. Behind the scenes, he keeps the day-to-day running smoothly, supporting members and assisting our Head Coach, Archie, to make sure everything clicks on and off the gym floor.

  • Kim Frew

Kim began her fitness journey over 10 years ago, finding her passion through CrossFit about eight years ago. She holds several certifications, including CrossFit Level 1 Trainer and Level 2 British Weightlifting Coach. Kim delivers inclusive, technique-focused sessions to empower clients physically and mentally. Her biggest highlight is seeing individuals progress from feeling unsure to hitting their first lifts and completing previously impossible workouts. Kim is a big fan of the outdoors and conquered Ben Nevis with her husband for her 30th birthday.

  • Sara Macarthur

Sara earned her CrossFit Level 1 qualification in 2023, though her journey began at age 16 when she was first inspired by her own coaches. She loves teaching complex weightlifting movements and finds the high-energy atmosphere of a lifting session—where members hit new PBs—completely unmatched. A true highlight for Sara is the "full circle" feeling of helping members from all backgrounds gain confidence in the gym.  Sara has a background in competitive dance and still takes classes at University today.

  • Jen Ritchie

Jen began coaching a weekly mobility class in September 2023, driven by a desire to counteract the effects of her desk job as a solicitor. She fell in love with CrossFit in 2019, which led her to mobility training. A coaching highlight is helping build members’ confidence in mobility training, like when a member borrowed their dog’s ball for self-massage. Jen herself once took a tennis ball on a flight to use for massaging the soft tissue in her back. That same tennis ball is now a treasured item, proudly displayed in her house with the signatures of Andy and Jamie Murray who she met after GB won the 2015 Davis Cup.
